The Dragon Boat Festival is a lunar holiday, also called the Duanwu Festival, is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month according to the Chinese calendar. Activities During Dragon Boat Festival:

Dragon Boat Race 赛龙舟 sàilóngzhōu
Dragon Boat Race, a major convention in the Festival, first appeared in the Warring States Age, now Dragon Boat Race is a traditional entertainment for Chinese people. Because of the shape of the boat, looks like a dragon, with a dragon head and tail, so it is called dragon boat. A team of people works the oars in a bid to reach the destination before the other teams. One team member sits at the front of the boat beating a drum in order to maintain morale and ensure that the rowers keep in time with one another. It is said that the winning team will bring harvest and happy life to the people of their village.

Zongzi Wrapping 包粽子 bāozòngzi
Zongzi is made from sticky or glutinous rice and a filling, which is kneaded in. They are then wrapped in bamboo leaves in pillow or triangular-based pyramid shapes, and tied with plant stems. If you are careful the bamboo leaves can be folded back like a wrapper so that you don't get your fingers sticky while eating them.

Flying Kites 放风筝 fàngfēngzhēng
The two most important things you will need to successfully launch and fly your kite are plenty of open space and proper wind speed for your kite. It's best to choose an open area free of trees, buildings, and hazardous obstacles like overhead power lines. If wind conditions are good, face away from the wind and hold up your kite, letting it catch the wind. As the wind lifts the kite, let line out. If the wind slows or lulls, reel in some line back in to steady your kite.
