Mandarin House 2013 Christmas Party
This week, Mandarin House held our annual Christmas Party. For all of our students working hard in Shanghai, studying Mandarin, our staff wanted to give them a very merry Christmas by organizing a Christmas Party packed with games and activities to ensure that in spite of being away from home there were no feeling of homesickness.
The students who attended the party came from nearly 20 different countries but were all happy celebrating Christmas together here in Shanghai. Our first activity involved our students singing traditional Christmas songs from their home countries. The songs received much applause and laughter from both the participants and teachers. It was fantastic to hear such varied Christmas music sung by our international student body.
As well as singing, Mandarin House’s teachers and staff arranged a series of other activities including “Stamp on the Balloon” and “Guess how Much Money.” To ensure our teachers and students had the opportunity to get to know each other outside of the classroom games were played in both English and Chinese.
Mandarin House’s students also had the chance to mingle with each other, and share stories about their life in China and about how they are finding studying Mandarin.
Mandarin House’s Christmas party provided all of students with a chance to let their hair down, relax and discuss Christmas in China. We wish everyone a very Merry Christmas.
