Here at Mandarin House, we have been busy sharing many fun times with our summer camp students.
Below are some of the traditional Chinese cutlural activities we have had this past week.
Chinese Chess
Chinese chess is never going to suddenly make the transition
into becoming a cool pastime, but take it from us: Chinese
chess is a lot more fun than its moniker at first lets on. Forget
all about those boring queens and bishops; in China you get
war elephants and flying cannons!
Chinese Painting
Chinese traditional painting dates back to the Neolithic Age
about 6,000 years ago. The excavated colored pottery with
painted human faces, fish, deer and frogs indicates that the
Chinese began painting as far back as the Neolithic Age. Of
course, that was a long time ago now and our students are
firmly in the present painting what they want using traditional
Chinese painting styles.
